Why networking is good for business

Do you talk about your business enough? Did you know that you may think the person you’re talking to isn’t interested in what you do. But guess what? They may be on the lookout for your products or services or know someone who is. You never know what someone is thinking or who they might know.

It’s great to talk about business. Don’t wait to be asked what you do, bring it up in conversation. The more you talk about your business the quicker word will spread.

You can be networking without even realising it!

If you want to make a conscious effort to network then there are various ways of doing this. The first one is probably the most obvious and that’s social media.

Social media

Social media has become the top place to advertise your business. You can use social media in many ways to promote your business. But networking in facebook groups is the perfect way of getting your brand name out there. If you lack confidence it’s the easiest place to begin.

Think about where your ideal client is likely to hang out and join those groups. Be sure to offer support and advice to those asking questions relative to your industry. You want to develop a reputation as the ‘go to’ expert. This is a great way to generate new leads for your business and get people talking.

When you’re posting on social media, don’t just post and forget about it. Monitor the comments and be sure to answer any questions which may crop up. Not only will this show that you’re interested in what they have to say, it will also help your posts to be seen by a wider audience, increasing your online presence.

Online networking groups

Since the covid pandemic many online networking groups have been formed. They were so successful that they have still continued. Being part of these groups means that your day isn’t interrupted by travel time. You’ll have an hour or so to showcase your business and talk to other business owners. This not only creates a stage for you to promote your business but you may find other businesses to collaborate with. Getting an insight into other businesses and how they work will give you fresh ideas.

Local networking groups

As a business owner it’s important to be part of the local community. What better way than to meet other business owners who are local to you? Being face to face with strangers may be a little daunting at first but it will build your confidence to talk about your business, so get out of your comfort zone and book in for the next available event today. Online events are fab don’t get me wrong but meeting people face to face helps you to connect and build better relationships in order to get referrals.

Business networking opens the door to so many opportunities for you and your business. You get to know people better, you can learn from them and share your wisdom. It’s great to talk and it’s bound to boost your confidence. It also means that people get to know you, they grow to like you and know they can trust you.

If you want to set yourself a new goal, make sure it involves networking. We’d love to hear how you get on.
